There have been times in my life that I yearned for the inexpressible. Something undefinable just out of my reach. Something I deeply, deeply craved yet what I desire was completely elusive to me because I didn’t even know what it was that I was desiring.
Can you relate? Have you ever felt as if there was a hole in your heart? Did you try to fill that hole in all the wrong ways, leaving you empty and unfulfilled?
Well, there is an interesting statement in Psalm 139:13 that I think we miss sometimes when we read the verse as a whole and rush on to the next verses because they are so impactful. (I’ll let you look up the complete passage for yourself later—Psalm 139:13–16). Until then, peek at the first half of verse 13.
For you created my inmost being (niv1984).
God created your inmost being—a place in the depths of your heart where He desires to meet with you in intimacy.
He loves you. He desires to spend time with you. He wants to whisper to your heart as you quietly wait to hear from Him.
He created you with a yearning desire that can only be fill by a right relationship with Him. That’s what the psalmist was talking about in Psalm 84:2. However, Satan will do everything in his power to prevent this from happening. He will lie to you and try to get you to fill this yearning in ways that are unpleasing to God to keep you from becoming all that God created you to be.
Don’t let that happen!

PRAYER
Dear Lord,
Help me to grow in You. When the depths of my innermost being crave something . . . anything . . . let me recognize that what I’m truly craving is You and You alone. Help me to run to You, learn from You, crave You. May my heart be like the psalmist may my soul long for You.
