A couple of Christmases ago I was searching high and low for an easy crock-pot recipe for a ham since we were having family over for dinner following our Christmas Eve service at church. Not finding anything that sounded worthy of a holiday dinner, I decided to make something up on my own. This is the simplest recipe I’ve ever made. I named it “Best Ever Ham” after my son-in-law upon taking his first bite exclaimed, “This is the best ham I have ever tasted!” It’s perfect for an Easter get together as well. Enjoy!!!

1 Spiral Sliced Brown Sugar Ham (8 to 10 pounds)

1 pound C&H Golden Brown Sugar

1 20 oz. can Dole Crushed Pineapple (in pineapple juice)

Place ham, with largest side down, in crockpot. (I don’t use the glaze packet—I toss it in the trash.) Pack brown sugar all over the ham. Pour crushed pineapple on top. Cover and cook on low for approximately 3 hours or until the ham is heated through. Do not overcook or you will dry out the ham.

A few helpful hints:

  • When buying the ham try to find one that will fit in your crock-pot. Sometimes I’ve needed to trim the ham to fit, which included sawing off the tip of the bone so I could get the lid of the crockpot to close.
  • If you are unable to fit the ham in your crockpot or you want to warm it in the oven, bake it at 275 degrees for 12-15 minutes per pound or until it is warmed through.
  • If you are feeling creative save the leftover liquid for homemade baked beans the next day. I just might need to post that recipe next week so stay tuned!
Feel free to post your ideas and comments for easy Easter meals.
