Have you ever been in a situation that seemed as if there was no way out? Or perhaps you thought that a particular problem was just too big and God couldn’t or wouldn’t ever intercede on your behalf. Well, recently we’ve been in just such a situation. In fact, it’s so daunting that this “problem” is what is currently keeping us stateside. Our hearts are to be in Bulgaria, but. . . . the impossible. . . . from our viewpoint, stands in the way!
Then two Sundays ago the Lord spoke to my heart through the song “Mighty to Save.”[i] There is a line in that song which says, “Savior, He can move the mountains.” As I was singing that phrase God spoke to my heart. “I can move this mountain!” The song went onto say, “He rose and conquered the grave; Jesus conquered the grave.”
Now think about this for a moment. The power God has is so tremendous that He raised Jesus Christ from the grave. But, what is even more amazing, this power is available to you and me as well! First Corinthians 6:14 explains it this way:
By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.
And so it was that the Lord was speaking to my heart through this song. As the week went on I would hold onto God’s promise any time my heart would start to be troubled through the actual singing of this song. Then one evening during an afterglow at the mission’s conference the Lord shouted once again to my heart so powerfully concerning Bulgaria. My immediate response was: “But Lord, You need to move the mountain.” At that moment, and I am not exaggerating, the worship leader began to play none other than “Mighty to Save!” Once again the wonderful words declared His promise to my apprehensive heart:
Savior, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save; He is mighty to save
Forever, Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave; Jesus conquered the grave
What comfort! What promise! He was speaking to me! He WILL move the mountain.
A few more days went by, days in which the impossible was rearing its ugly head, yet instead of giving into the worry and concern about the impossible situation I choose to continue to sing the song to comfort my troubled heart. At one such trying time, yet again, the Lord spoke to my heart. I arrived early to church and something was playing on the overhead projector. What was it? None other than, you’ve guessed it, the words from the song “Mighty to Save.” Never had I seen the church show something like this before—it wasn’t the song playing, it was just word art with the words of the song playing across the screen. My husband was trying to talk to me, but I replied, “Wait, wait for it. There it is! He can move the mountains!” His wonderful promise, once more, to comfort my heart and encourage me to trust Him yet again with the difficult situations in my life!
Well as you can imagine this song is a theme resounding within my heart and my mind. Everyday something comes up concerning the mountain—but everyday I choose to hold onto the promise that God has been speaking to me in His various ways.
Another such mountain promise was at a recent staff meeting. Pastor Brian Bell was sharing about the presence of God in our lives. He quoted Psalm 68:8:
The earth shook. . . . Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
At the presence of God, Mount Sinai was moved!!!! And once again God whispered to my heart. You see, the lesson to learn is that when we sit in His presence mountains will be made into molehills. As we seek His wisdom concerning our mountainous troubles He directs our paths. That’s exactly what He has been faithful to do with us concerning this.
And just at the right moment He will reveal His power to us. In fact, within the same day we received news that the mountain has received a bit of shaking!!! Amazing!!! God is sooooo good!!!
Of course, we have a long way to go to completely move this mountain. It still is there—daunting as ever—but through prayer and faith in God nothing is impossible. And I wait in eager anticipation to see just how God will move this mountain. Listen to Matthew 17:20:
I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed,
you can say to this mountain,
“Move from here to there”
and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

This was what I needed to read today Cheri. I will keep you and Keith in prayer. I decently have some mRNA that need to be moved. I’m miserable at my job. My hearts desire is to do massage. (But) I know we should never use this word cuz God. But could not quite cuz of finances. I need Lords direction with my life,
Praying for you Connie! “Lord, move this mountain in Connie’s life and open the door for her to go in another direction. We praise You for what we know you WILL do in and through her life. Amen!”
Thank you for your words of encouragement. We should never give up on those mountains, because He will move them when it is time. My husband and I have wanted to go on a mission trip, but it always seems impossible, time, money, etcc.. I think some of these are excuses, so please pray for us for this mountain to move.. for Christ to move it in His time, and to make it clear for us. We will keep you in pray..
Debi,
Prayers sent! And thanks for the prayers!!! It is wonderful to know that everything is in God’s timing.
